Neglectful Me.

I have been neglectful in every sense of the word. I knit like a fiend. And yet I have not posted a single picture. I recently finished a beautiful cabled sweater from a Debbie Bliss pattern, two Noro patterns (one for the hubbie), a lace shawl to die for out of Kidsilk Haze, and 2 lace scarves in the works for the Mums for Christmas/Hanukkah.

Martin asked me what I wanted for Christmas....I said YARN! You know, the yarn you want to buy but lack the disposable income for. Sumptuous yarn...The stuff live in sweaters are made of. I want to make the Arisaig pattern from Knitty.com I think it is the Fall 2005 issue. I am trying to find a LYS that carries Jaeger Matchmaker 4 ply, but I think I will have to order it online if I cannot find something comparable.

I found a great LYS that I had no idea was even in Southside called Lettuce Knit. The store is well organized, well lit and downright cheerful. It was refreshing compared to a LYS that recently closed that I shall not name. I avoided going there at all cost due to rude staffing and overpriced product advertised as "discount". It was disheartening. I think they would have done well were it not for the staff. This newer one, Lettuce Knit in Stoney Point is great. The Yarn Lounge is also great, found in Carytown. I always stop by there when we go to Sticky Rice for sushi. Huge selection of natural fibers and extremely helpful staff. I have yet to make use of their lounge area though it looks rather inviting.

With works long hours and the long commute, I have not met too many people in Richmond. So I have decided to make the time. I want to hook up with a local knitting group. How cool would it be to find people who share my passion!?!

When I first got into knitting 2 years ago, my hubbie thought it was hokey and old ladyish. But now, he usually tells people about it before I have the chance. I remember my grandmother knitting, I think I was about 5 or 6. She used to make the most beautiful ornaments knit out of cotton then crystallized with sugar. I knew how to do the knit stitch and of course both my mother and grandmother taught me to crochet.

So when I picked it up again, well I taught myself continental. It was easier and more natural for me. I was used to the yarn running through my fingers on the left hand.
